My first atheist thought

I became an atheist about four years ago. Prior to that I was a Roman Catholic and, although I was not extremely religious, I was a strong believer. I don't remember specifics, however I remember enough that it's worth telling. I was in class during fourth grade, and we were learning about at least a piece of early religion. It was about a water god, a god who made water fall from the sky. This god was an early explanation for why sometimes it rains. At this time I had already learned about the water cycle- in short that water evaporates, builds up in the skies, gets heavy, and then falls down to repeat the process. I had also been to science museums and seen videos explaining how the Big Bang could possibly have happened. With this information at hand I realized that religion is simply something made up by man to explain what is not understood by us. We no longer believe in a rain god, and it has been replaced by the scientific explanation known as the water cycle. Right then I realized that the Christian God I had been raised to believe in was simply something created by man to explain the creation of the universe. At science museums, I had also learned the theory of evolution, a scientific explanation which contradicted the Bible. Recently we have been able to observe small examples of evolution in diseases which evolve into new strands which are resistant to old medications. According to Christianity, God created all animals on Earth as they are now. It is very clear now that this is not true, as we have seen evidence for evolution including fossils transitioning from different animals to modern animals. This was what brought up my first thought of Atheism, and hopefully if you do currently believe in a god or gods, you are considering Atheism too.

Welcome to my blog.

The purpose of this blog is to help prove atheists as correct. This information will be meant to be used in debates between atheists and theists, to attempt to get agnostics leaning more towards atheism, and to help give theists a better understanding of atheists' reasoning. Unless I get bored soon I won't make a post for a bit which actually gives any information. If you have any question you want me to answer, whether it be so that you can hear an atheist's answer, or simply because you want me to put it on my blog, go a head and send it. Please send it to bradical247@aol.com with the subject "Atheist Question" so that I know it isn't just spam or something. Thanks for reading and come back soon to see some of my posts.
